| Rosenthal
A feature of many casinos are the sports books
(facilities where betting takes place on horse races and other sporting
events). Frank Rosenthal, a US horse racing handicapper who realized
that bookmaking could be a huge money-spinner for casinos, opened the
first race and sports book at the Stardust Casinos in Las Vegas. Its
success resulted in race and sports books being introduced to The Strip.
The story of Rosenthal's life was portrayed in the movie
"Casino".
